Ramadaan coming to an end

After observing their fasts from sunrise to sunset for the past month, Muslims around the world will be looking to sight the moon Wednesday evening.

Calgary is home to nearly 80,000 Muslims and Dr David Liepert of the Muslim Council of Calgary tells 660News that most Muslims he has spoken with say this year fasting was quite easy and that perhaps it was because the weather stayed cool and mild this summer.
The moon sighting marks the end of Ramadaan and the beginning of Eid festivities.

Should the moon be sighted tonight, prayers and festivities will be held Thursday morning at 9:30 am at the Round-Up Centre at Stampede Park and if it is not, then, celebrations will be for Friday at the same time.

For more information on when prayers and festivities will be held, you can check online at www.muslimsofcalgary.ca or call 403-242-1615.
