Women still earning less than men

It’s still a man’s world when it comes to making money.

A new report by the Council of Ministers of Education finds Canadian women earn just 63 per cent of what men earn, despite outperforming guys in high school, college and university.

Experts tell The Globe and Mail the gap is because women are still mainly responsible for child care, which means they work fewer hours and are more likely to work part time.

In other western countries where family benefits are more generous, women earn an average 76 per cent of what men make.
