RCMP search rural property in McCann case

RCMP confirm they searched a rural property in western Alberta Friday in connection with the disappearance of an elderly couple from St. Albert.

Lyle and Marie McCann went missing in early July, and foul play is suspected.

Sergeant Patrick Webb tells 660News, officers searched a piece of private property new Nojack, in the same area where other searches related to the case have taken place.

Lyle and Marie McCann, both in their 70s, were last seen July 3 when they left St. Alberta, just north of Edmonton, to visit family in British Columbia’s  Fraser Valley.

Their burning recreational vehicle was found two days later near Edson, Alta., 200 kilometres west of Edmonton.

While a suspect has been identified he has not been charged in the couple’s disappearance.

The reward for information leading to the McCanns increased by $10,000 Friday to $60,000.
