A Calgary man is suing the Edmonton Police Service after he was shot four times.

Kirk Steele wants the officer who pulled the trigger to be charged with attempted murder.

The 37-year-old was shot in 2006 as he stabbed a police dog with a steak knife while fleeing from officers.

The Crown will review the request to determine if there is enough evidence to lay a charge.

The police dog survived his stab wounds and retired in 2007.
