A man hit by a truck while riding his bike in the city’s northwest has succumbed to his injuries.
It happened around 10:30 Wednesday morning in the west bound lane of 16 Avenue near the Shouldice Park area. Police say the 80-year-old man had been riding his bike eastward in the shoulder of the west bound lane when he swerved into oncoming traffic.
“From witnesses, he was riding his bike and kinda weaving as he was riding, maybe he was unstable on the bike but all we know is he veered out onto the lane and truck wasn’t able to stop.” said Duty Inspector Rob Williams.
He says the driver of the truck was not physically injured but is quite shaken up.
Charges will not be laid against the driver of the truck.
