Murderer’s appeal rejected

A murder victim’s family is relieved his killer won’t get another trial.

Alberta’s Court of Appeal ruled Thursday against Raul Flores’ bid for another trial.

He was convicted two years ago of stabbing Rigel Cole outside a house party in the northwest community of Hawkwood.

The 18-year-old’s father tells The Calgary Sun his son’s death is an open wound that’s never closed.

William Cole says it’s nice to finally have a clear decision in the case.

Flores was sentenced to life in prison with no chance of parole for 12 years.
