A Calgary man has been sentenced to 20 years in a U.S. prison for conspiring to kidnap and murder.
Fifty-year-old Nicholas Djokich planned to kill former Calgary lawyer Richard Devries for what he called a $175-million rip-off.
Djokich met with a hitman and told him to kill Devries.
That hitman turned out to be an undercover agent.
The Calgary Sun reports Devries was later found to be innocent of any fraud allegations.
The sentence was handed down earlier this month in a Boston courtroom.
