Saddleridge murder re-enacted

The parents of a young man executed on his front lawn more than two years ago are joining police in appealing to anyone with information that might help them find justice.

In August 2008, 19-year-old Robert Anthony Jones was shot dead while leaving for work at about 7 a.m.

Crimestoppers is blanketing the northeast neighbourhood of Saddleridge with flyers asking the public for help in the case.

Darlene Jones says the 805 days since her son was killed have been miserable.

She says she will never have closure, but she hopes the crime stoppers pamphlets might bring justice.

“I hope it” (the flyers) “gets into the right hands and somebody comes forward and talks,” Darlene Jones tells 660News, noting the 805 days since her son was killed have been miserable. “Because there are people out there that know.”

“We just need answers,” says Darlene, who adds she will never have closure. “This person needs to be off the streets.  We need justice for Robbie and that’s our goal.”

Ed Jones, the victim’s father, says they’re grateful for people who have talked to police, but he’s convinced there’s someone out there with a key detail.

The culprit or culprits fled the scene in a black SUV.  Police say Jones murder was targetted, but do not believe the murder was gang related.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crimestoppers.
