That little city on the west side of Calgary continues to grow.
Enrolment at the University of Calgary has set a record with 30,838 students this year.
That’s up from 27,700 students only three years ago.
But there is a downside to being on a big campus.
18-year-old first-year student Melissa O’Rourke tells The Calgary Herald she has 400 classmates in her sociology class. She expected between 150 and 200 for the class.
But over at Mount Royal University, 18-year-old Kendal-Rae Bayda says her largest class consists of 36 students.
Enrolment numbers at both MRU and SAIT have flatlined thanks to a lack of funding from the provincial government.
