Alberta has become the first province in the country to develop a so-called “aging population policy framework.”
The Minister of Seniors and Community Supports says in 20 years the number of seniors in the province will more than double. Mary Anne Jablonski says by 2031, there will be almost a million elderly people living in Alberta.
The framework will help government meet the needs of the aging population, co-ordinating decision making and being clear about how the government develops its policies and supports for the elderly.
