How happy are you?

Albertans are some of the happiest in Canada, with Calgary one of the happiest cities.

The study of life satisfaction released by the Centre for the Study of Living Standards found across the nation, the average level of happiness among Canucks aged 20 and over was 4.26 in 2007-08 on a scale of one to five.

Albertans came in at 4.30, tied for second with Quebec, while Calgarians came in fifth at 4.33.

Andrew Sharpe with the centre says while this frigid weather may get us down it doesn’t affect our long term happiness.

“Short term you don’t like it but we are looking at more of a longer term measure of your life satisfaction.  Looking back how satisfied has your life been?  So that’s not really affected by a lot of cols weather, I don’t think.”

The study also found happiness wasn’t all about money.  Mental health carried a lot more weight than economic well being.
