Kopi Luwak has come to Calgary

A novelty beverage that was referenced in the movie The Bucket List is now available in Calgary, it’s “cat poop”, or Kopi Luwak, coffee!

It’s made from the beans of coffee berries that have been ingested by a cat-like creature, native to southeast Asia.

Once the beans pass through its digestive tract, they’re picked out, washed, sun-dried, then lightly roasted and brewed.

The Bean Stop owner, Ken Cutler describes its taste to 660News as being smooth, sweet-like tangy with a clean finish, similar to high quality scotch.

A single ten ounce cup costs $25 including tax and a tin of ground coffee for one pot will set you back $60.

Kopi Luwak is available at The Bean Stop in Eau Claire downtown.
