Alberta drivers getting hit with B.C. impound law

Those who don’t want to surrender their vehicles to Mounties in British Columbia are going to have to slow down when crossing the provincial border.

At least 77 Albertans have had their cars impounded in southeastern B.C. in the last three months, according to The Calgary Sun.

A new B.C. law passed in September lets RCMP impound vehicles found driving 40 km/h or more over the speed limit.

Those who are caught don’t get their vehicles back for seven days and will likely have to pay a fine of up to $1,000.
