Martin Parnell has run 239 marathons and more than 10,000 kilometres so far in 2010.
The Cochrane man, who turns 55, on December 19th, pledged at the start of the year to run 250 marathons in 2010.
He tells 660News after some trouble early in the year with weather and injury, he’s been feeling good for the last few months and plans to finish on December 31st.
Parnell will be running the final marathon at Spray Lakes family sports centre between 9am and 3pm in 2 km loops so family and friends can run with him.
He’s raising money for Right to Play, a humanitarian organization that uses sport and play programs to improve health, develop life skills, and foster peace with children and communities in some of the most disadvantaged areas of the world.
So far he has raised $156,792.42 of his goal of $250, 000.
