School support team project

Over the past couple of years city police have done a good job cleaning up the core, cracking down on drug dealers and prostitutes.
Calgary’s Police Chief says he’s proud of the work that has happened downtown, and is now planning to tackle some of the crime issues that have been raised by community leaders.
Chief Rick Hanson says the multi agency school support team project, which pairs up police officers with social workers , expanded to elementary schools as well as families and has been very successful.
Hanson believes addressing community crime issues , whether they be drugs, gangs or break and enters will require deploying more resources, however he believes the initiative has already been included in the department’s 3 year business plan and 2011 is when he hopes to make it happen.
