Charitable giving lags in Alberta

In this season of giving, a new report shows Albertans aren’t as generous as many of our poorer Canadian cousins.

The Fraser Institute says that in 2008, just 24.4 per cent of people in this province gave to charity.

That’s above the national average, but below Ontario, Saskatchewan and Manitoba.

More Americans per capita make donations to help the less fortunate at 27.3 per cent.
