Weather forces some schools outside Calgary to close

The chilly weather and treacherous driving conditions has led several schools to cancel classes for the day.
Public and Catholic schools are closed in the City of Airdrie, Crossfield, Chestermere, Beiseker, Indus, Kathyrn, Landgon and Prince of Peace. Buses are also not running in those areas.
All schools in Strathmore, including the Golden Hills Division, will not hold classes Monday.
Those schools include Hussar, Standard, Rockyford, Sequoia Outreach, Westmount, Wheatland, Brentwood, Storefront, Golden Hills Learning Academy, Trinity Lutheran Academy, Crowther Jr. High, Strathmore High School, Carseland and Central Bow Valley.
Buses and schools are open in Bearspaw, Bragg Creek, Cochrane, Springbank and Westbrook.
The buses that service the Chinook’s Edge School Division, from Crossfield to Penhold have also been cancelled for Monday.
Schools in Three Hills are open, but buses are not running.
There are no school closures to report in Calgary.
Out of town, work to help those who were stranded on the weekend continues. CTV tracked down one woman who was very grateful for all the help she and her family received.
“We just have nothing but gratitude and good wishes and thanks for the people in Strathmore because they were very kind.”
The Mounties are still not recommending travel on area highways, but conditions are expected to improve as the day wears on.
