Travel tabs released for Alberta ministers

The Canadian Taxpayers Federation is crying foul over the travel tab racked up by Alberta cabinet ministers this month.

It already tops $58,000 and it’s only midway through January.

That’s thanks mostly to a trip being taken by Iris Evans with a price tag of more than $50,000.

Evans, the Intergovernmental Affairs Minister, plans to spend 21 days on a mission to Asia, the Middle East and the UK.

Taxpayers Federation spokesman Scott Hennig tells The Calgary Sun it may never be known if taxpayers get good value for these junkets because the Stelmach government doesn’t ever provide a breakdown of the return on investment.
