New Zodiac sign blown out of proportion

Alan Dyer with the Telus World of Science says there is nothing new over reports that the sky no longer matches up with constellations.  However rumours of astronomers adapting a 13th zodiac sign, he says are completely false.

Dyer tells 660News, this was only brought up because it’s been blown out of proportion by some “shoddy” reporting.

“It’s not a new discovery, it’s just rather distorted telling of something that astronomers have known for a long time.”

“There’s not going to be a 13th sign of the zodiac in any astrological system,” he laughs. “But the sun does spin for a few weeks in the fall in this other constellation.”

After following the current signs for so many years, Dyer says astronomers are just going to prefer to keep things as they are.

“It doesn’t matter that the constellations don’t match the real sky, they have their own system that is completely oblivious to the real sky,” he says.
