Teacher hours could be cut to save money

Give up the hefty raise in exchange for less time in the classroom.
That’s the carrot the province is dangling in front of teachers as it looks to extend a five-year collective agreement.
The Alberta Teachers Association website says the current deal calls for raises this year and next, based on average weekly earnings in Alberta. The government wants to bypass that in return for other benefits.
Those would include limits on instructional time and other duties.
