Those who want to live longer need to eat fewer calories, more vegetables and less meat, according to nutrition experts.
It may sound simple, but what’s the easiest way for people to change what’s on their plates?
Diet expert Leslie Beck is out with her list of the top 25 foods for living longer in her new book “Leslie Beck’s Longevity Diet,” to help people do just that.
The super foods include:
– Almonds
– Avocado
– Beets
– Berries
– Black beans and other dried beans
– Broccoli
– Cabbage
– Dark chocolate
– Flaxseed
– Garlic
– Green tea
– Kale
– Lentils
– Oats
– Extra virgin olive oil
– Oranges
– Pomegranate
– Red bell peppers
– Red grapes
– Salmon and other omega-3-rich fish
– Soybeans
– Spinach
– Sweet potato
– Tomatoes
– Walnuts
Beck tells The Calgary Herald all of the foods on the list are high in antioxidants, which help to stave off the signs and damage of aging.
