Word of a suicide bomb attack in southern Moscow’s Domodedovo airport has sent a shockwave of sadness through Calgary’s Russian community.

Maria Kandaurova volunteers with the Calgary Immigrant Women’s Association and tells 660News she rushed to the phone this morning, because a friend of hers was due to fly into Moscow at the time of the explosion.

Thankfully, her friend was alright.

She says that terrorist bombings are a sad reality of living in Russia.

About 45,000 Russians call Calgary home.
