Calgarians sound off on fluoride

There is no shortage of opinions or people lining up to express them as a city committee lets the public sound off on whether to stop adding fluoride to Calgary’s drinking water.
Jeanette is one of more than 40 people who lined up to speak before aldermen.
She says she was there as a mother and can’t believe the city would consider taking fluoride out of our drinking water.
“All of the childrens’ teeth will start rotting and the only one that’s going to stand to achieve anything from this is dentists,” she said.
Still others argue the cost of fluoridation and the potential risks of its ingestion suggest the chemical must be removed.
The committee will consider the public input before making a recommendation to council.
