Sentencing begins for RCMP Constable

Cell block video of an inmate being beaten was shown Thursday, at the sentencing hearing for RCMP Const. Desmond Sandboe.
The incident happened in September of 2009, and was turned over to the Alberta Serious Incident Response Team immediately.
Sandboe pled guilty in November and has been suspended without pay, an action reserved for the most serious issues.
An internal RCMP Code of Conduct investigation is also underway, and will conclude after sentencing is determined.
Cons. Sandboe is a nine-year veteran of the RCMP.
