Former Sunshine employees launch lawsuit

A wrongful dismissal suit filed by former workers at Sunshine Village claims they were fired after a dispute with the resort owner’s son.

Legal papers say Taylor Scurfield, the son of Ralph Scurfield, got angry when he and his friends were told to get back inbounds after ducking under a closure rope.

According to The Calgary Sun, the suit claims that the younger Scurfield said the closure didn’t apply to him because he is the owner’s son.

The four workers claim they were wrongfully fired because of the disagreement on December 19th, and are seeking hundreds of thousands of dollars in damages.

Statements of defence from Sunshine Village have not yet been filed.
