Former AHS boss reflects on tenure

Former Alberta Health Services boss Stephen Duckett says a Calgary-Edmonton health rivalry was one of the worst parts of his tenure.
Duckett was fired in the fall following his refusal to answer reporter questions because he was eating a cookie.
The health economist wrote in Vital Signs magazine that Calgary and Edmonton competed for resources and equipment, to the detriment of the whole province.
He says lessening that rivalry was one of his greatest achievements.
But University of Calgary health policy expert Dr. Tom Noseworthy tells The Calgary Herald any rivalry between the cities was managed through the original creation of AHS; not because of anything Duckett did.
