Police support sentence for sex offender

City police are applauding an eight year sentence for a repeat, violent sex offender.

David Larry Ramsay was convicted in a brutal 2008 attack on a woman who he threatened to kill if she went to police.

The Calgary Sun reports he was under a court-ordered condition at the time to stay away from the woman for a previous assault.

Staff Sgt. John Guigon says it’s a significant sentence for a particularly heinous offence and the punishment fits the crime.
