Provincial Cabinet Ministers tour Calgary

Provincial Cabinet Ministers are visiting the Calgary area Monday, talking to stakeholders about what to expect in the upcoming budget.
Government spokesman Jerry Bellika says a workshop at the Chamber of Commerce, a meeting at City Hall, and visits to Airdrie and Chestermere are aimed at sharing the province’s vision moving forward.
“We did this last spring,” Bellika tells 660News. “The premier instructed cabinet ministers to get out into different communities and meet with business leaders and all sorts of organizations, community groups.”
Last week the Premier announced the budget will be presented February 24th and it will include a deficit.
Bellika says today’s briefings won’t affect what’s in the budget, but will be more of a discussion about regional issues and ideas.
“Just to look at the plan going forward for the next year,” says Bellika. “What sort of things we need to be looking ahead, what sort of issues we need to be aware of. And let people know about our financial situation as well.”
To date, Bellika says the process has resulted in valued feedback from community and business leaders as well as other stakeholders.
