RCMP in Airdrie are looking for the public’s help in finding a suspect following an attempted robbery at a drug store.
Constable Robert Frizzell tells 660News, a man walked inside a local pharmacy yesterday afternoon at around 2:00, with a weapon demanding drugs from the pharmacist.
He fled the store after hearing another store employee say that she was calling the police.
Investigators believe the suspect was after oxycontin.
“The most common narcotics that people are looking for is oxycontin, that tends to be the drug of choice if you will,” says Constable Robert Frizzell. “But again nothing was actually stolen so we’re not 100 per cent sure.”
Investigators found the get-away car a short distance away.
It’s currently in the possession of Airdrie RCMP and be scoured by the Forensics Identification Section.
No one was injured over the course of the incident.
The suspect is described as a Caucasian male, having a slight build, approximately 5 foot 9, wearing white sneakers with black soles and piping, faded/stone wash blue jeans, a zip-up black hoody, black gloves, a black face mask with a raised nose slot and a black brimmed hat.
He was also carrying a medium sized duffle/gym bag.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Airdrie RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
