Premier opens door to possible Ring Road deal

The province is reopening the door to negotiating a deal with the Tsuu T’ina on a possible southwest ring road.
Tsuu T’ina Chief Sandford Big Plume has said he’ll be discussing the original agreement with his people, to see if they’d want to renegotiate.
Speaking in Calgary, Premier Ed Stelmach says they want to work with the first nations to come up with a deal.
“I know the Chief will want to work with me and get it resolved, but we will wait for a reply from his people its the right thing to do. Sit down and talk to his people clarify some parts of the agreement that needed to be clarified and then take it from there.”
Stelmach maintains the best solution for the route is still to pass through Tsuu T’ina land.
He says the province has already done a preliminary engineering design on the road, but even if the Tsuu T’ina agree on the deal in the coming days, it could take a year before construction begins.
