Calgary Kiwanis Music Festival

12,000 participants are taking part in the annual Calgary Kiwanis Music festival, for the next three weeks.
Participants are generally performing arts students and are evaluated by a world renowned panel in hopes of getting recommended for the provincial level competition and maybe even the chance to represent Alberta in the National Music Festival.
Executive Director, Mary Ross tells 660News the festival focuses on amateur performers.
“We are not looking at professional folk here, so this could be anything from an 8-year old who just started taking piano lessons and it gives them an opportunity to appear in front of an audience.”
She adds, this year is special as it marks the 80th anniversary of the festival in Calgary.
Three special concerts will take place on:
Saturday, March 12 at 7pm at the Jubilee Auditorium
Friday, March 18 at 7pm at SAIT Orpheus Theatre
Saturday, March 19 at 7pm at Jubilee Auditorium
