A new website is offering more support for women battling cancer.
The Canadian Cosmetic, Toiletry and Fragrance Foundation, behind the longstanding Look Good, Feel Better program, has launched a new online community at www.facingcancer.ca.
Cancer survivor Sherry Abbott, the Foundation’s executive director, tells 660News the website was launched based on the findings of a new study showing nearly half of women facing cancer don’t feel they have enough support.
“Women can share and confide and connect, really, 24-7 because, you know, it’s when you’re wide awake at 3 a.m. and there’s no one to talk to that some of these fears and anxieties can come forward and you just need to speak to or connect with someone who’s been there,” says Abbott.
The survey found that most women find it either difficult or impossible to resume ‘normal’ lives whether it’s physical, social or psychological.
