Preliminary hearing set for Prokopishin

A man who was once named Calgary foster parent of the year will face a preliminary hearing on child sex charges this fall.

An earlier hearing for 53-year-old Gary Prokopishin was delayed after he was hospitalized for an undisclosed reason.

He faces 11 charges involving five alleged victims – boys who were under his care – and charges related to internet luring.

The Calgary Sun reports Prokopishin’s lawyer says his client is still in poor health.

The preliminary hearing is scheduled to begin October 3rd.
