Multi-sport arena for Bearspaw

A major fundraising campaign kicks-off today for a new hockey rink and sports facility in Bearspaw.

Two NHL-sized rinks will eventually be built, along with classrooms and a dance studio.

The rinks will also be able to be used for indoor soccer and lacrosse.

A $750-thousand donation from the developers of Watermark at Bearspaw got things started along with another $250-thousand from Foundation Calgary.

The plan is to build the facility in phases as money becomes available.

According to The Calgary Sun, the hope is to have one sheet of ice ready for August.
