Zoo launches giraffe naming contest

The Calgary Zoo is looking for help naming one of its newest additions.

The 6-week old giraffe calf is already more than six feet tall and weighs about 185 pounds, but remains nameless.

Zoo officials are inviting calgarians to enter a naming contest for the not-so-little guy.

Communications manager Laurie Skene says you can enter at the zoo’s website starting tomorrow.

The contest runs for ten days.

The zoo is looking for names that reflect the youngster’s African origin, as well as his independent and curious personality.

The winning name will be announced April 20th.
