Taxpayers organization to honour two Albertans

The two men credited with slaying Alberta’s debt in the 1990’s will be honoured by the Canadian Taxpayers Federation during a special function next week.
The CTF’s Scott Hennig says former Premier Ralph Klein and his then finance minister Jim Dinning will be presented with the Taxfighter Award.
“Those two came in at a time when deficits were out of control and spending needed to be reined in,” Hennig tells 660News. “They said were going to do that and they did exactly what they said, got Alberta back to a position where we had our economy rolling and budgets were balanced and we built up some savings.”
“We think it’s high time to recognize the people who did the heavy lifting, the hard work, and gave us a blueprint on how you cut spending, balance your budget and get yourself back in the black,” Hennig continues.
Unfortunately because of poor health, Klein won’t be able to receive his award in person. The CTF’s Taxfighter Awards will be handed out next Monday evening at The Fairmont Palliser Hotel in downtown Calgary.
