It’s a lucrative week for candy makers

“Oh, absolutely,” Rick Jeffery, one of the owners of Olivier’s Candies in Calgary, tells 660News when he’s asked if business is brisk leading up to Easter Weekend. “Easter is actually the second most important holiday for us, right behind Christmas.  Even better for us than Valentine’s Day.”

Jeffery says a steady stream of people are filing through his store looking for easter goodies for both family and themselves.

“Most of our items are pretty affordable,” he says. “We do have a huge Easter Bunny that’s, I don’t know, I think it’s about two feet tall or more, that probably weighs in at about 10 pounds of chocolate.  And that’s probably the most expensive item on our shelf.”

Jeffery says Easter treats haven’t changed much over the years with chocolate bunnies still the big sellers.
