Premature election tweets punishable

Elections Canada is warning people not to tweet ballot box results before all the polls in the country have closed.
The body has had a rule in place for over 70 years designed to stop newspapers, radio and TV outlets from releasing results in Newfoundland before polls in B.C. close.
There’s concern results in the east will influence votes in the west.
Elections Canada says the law applies to Facebook and Twitter as well, meaning premature tweeters could be fined up to $25,000.
