CBC possibly breaks election rules

CBC broke the election results broadcasting ban Monday night when they displayed results for about five minutes at 7:05 p.m. Mountain time.
A winner from a New Brunswick riding was interviewed before the broadcast went off-air. After that, a graphic appeared saying “Sorry, we’re experiencing technical difficulties. Please stay tuned.”
The National Post reports that CBC Newsworld resumed a few minutes after the technical difficulties message with a story about a web project created in protest against the premature broadcast law.
The 73-year-old law, found in Section 329 of the Canada Elections Act, prohibits the transmission of election results until all polls have closed.
