City weed regulations align with provincial changes

It’s that time of the year again as bright yellow dandelions have sprouted and the city wants to make Calgarians aware of changes to provincial weed legislation.
The list of invasive plants has been expanded and includes two categories as either noxious weeds or prohibited noxious weeds but dandelions didn’t make the cut!
However, private property owners need to be aware that dandelions should remain under 15 centimetres in height.
Bylaw officers will continue to issue warning notices and enforce action, if need be.
The City’s website offers guidelines for beautiful and healthy yards by using an environmentally-friendly approach to lawn and garden care.
