A Calgary foster dad accused of sexually abusing boys under his care is facing a third set of charges after another potential victim came forward.
Police have charged 52-year-old Gary Dale Prokopishin with obtaining sex from a person under 18 and abuse by someone in a position of authority.
Prokopishin’s latest alleged victim accuses him of sexually abusing him starting in November 2001, when he was just 14-years-old.
The repeat incidents, sometimes done in exchange for money, are said to have continued for a period of about four years.
Prokopishin and his wife had 55 boys under their care over 20 although she is not suspected of any wrongdoing.
Staff Sergeant Kelly Campbell says they’ve managed to reach 16 off the 55 former foster boys so far, to see if any more of them want to come forward with any further potential allegations.
“These are complex investigations. Some people have moved. Some people don’t want to come forward at this time to speak with police. These are sensitive allegations and people come forward at different times when they are ready to come forward,” she says.
The former foster boys are currently scattered across Canada making the case even more complex for police.
