Oil production hampered by wildfires

The northern Alberta wildfires continue disrupting oil shipments across the province, in a major way.
Cenovus has had to shut down its Pelican Lake facility, which produces 22-thousand barrels of crude a day.
Overall more than 100-thousand barrels a day, in production, has been halted.
Cenovus Energy has had to halt production at its Pelican Lake facility, about 90 kilometres northeast of Slave Lake, not because the site itself is currently in danger but because wildfires have shut down a key pipeline.
Cenovus spokeswoman Rhona Delfrari tells 660News says they are not sure when they can’t start producing again.
“A lot of it has to do with electricity in the area being shut down, so we are constantly getting updates from the pipeline companies and from the province. As soon as we hear the pipeline is going to be reopened, we will slowly bring our production back on again,” said Delfrari
Shell Canada has ordered non essential workers to leave its Albian oilsands site north of Fort McMurray because of heavy smoke.
