Man dies in Hythe motorcycle crash

One man is dead and three others injured, after a collision involving four motorcycles near Hythe, Alberta.

RCMP say the 47-year-old man killed in the crash was driving west bound on Highway 672 Sunday afternoon, when he crossed the centre line and collided with the first of three motorcyles driving eastbound.

Cpl. Carol McKinley tells 660News what happened in the aftermath of the initial crash.

“The second motorcycle in that eastbound group, operated by 55-year-old man with a 49-year-old female passenger made contact with that initial collision, causing that motorcycle to roll,” she says. “The driver of that motorcycle sustained injuries and is in stable condition at a local area hospital.  The woman was transported to a local area hospital and released.

The third motorcycle drove into a ditch to avoid the collision.

It’s not clear what caused the 47-year-old to veer across the road,  the 55-year-old man driving the motorcycle involved in the initial crash remains in serious condition in an Edmonton hospital.
