Calgary councillors head to Halifax conference

Ten aldermen and the mayor are packing their bags for a conference of city councillors being held in Halifax this weekend.
That’s despite some criticism the annual nationwide meeting isn’t worth the taxpayer money it costs to send Calgary reps.
Edmonton Mayor Stephen Mandel says he’s skipping it, calling it a waste of money.
Alderman John Mar tells The Calgary Herald the meetings are valuable, saying his idea to have a bylaw cutting down on vehicle noise came directly from a lunch he had at last year’s conference.
