Mail delivery curbed to three days a week

Mail delivery across Canada has been reduced to Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays this week as postal workers continue the rotating strikes.
Canada Post spokesperson John Hamilton says management has no choice and is not looking to the federal government to legislate an end to the strike.
He says the two sides met over the weekend, but that it is unrealistic for the union to expect that the previous collective agreement will be reinstated.
Hamilton says a final call will be made Monday on whether all cities will be affected, based on mail volumes.
He says a week and a half of rotating strikes have scared customers away and a drop in mail means the post office has no choice but to bring in service cuts.
Postal workers in Red Deer spent the weekend on strike and employees in ten cities across the country walked off the job soon after.
Rotating strikes began late Sunday in Corner Brook, Nfld., Fredericton, N.B., Breton, N.S., Trois-Rivieres, Que., Sherbrooke, Que., Cornwall, Ont., Windsor, Ont., Niagara Falls, Ont., Regina, Sask. and Nanaimo, B.C.
