Alberta’s labour crunch expected to be severe

Employers in the province face a major labour shortage, with some experts blaming the fact Alberta never fixed the problems that spurred the recession to begin with.

Alberta has a projected labour shortfall of about 77,000 workers in the next 10 years.

Senior Vice President of David Alpin Recruiting, Mike Corbett, tells The Calgary Herald the factors that caused the economy to plunge in 2008 were never fully resolved.

The expected wave of retirements as baby boomers start turning 65 this year is expected worsen the labour shortage.
