Calgary Transit is asking Calgarians to name its new fare card.
The smartcard will be launched a year from now and will provide transit users with a new, more convenient way of paying their fares.
Transit spokesperson Ron Collins tells 660News you can go to the transit website http://www.calgarytransit.com until July 3rd to submit a name.
“Then on July 4th and 5th, there will be a committee of representatives from the City of Calgary and Calgary Transit which will select the top three submissions,” says Collins. “They will then be put to a vote of the public on July 6th and 7th, and the winner will be announced sometime just after July 8th.”
The contest is already creating interest in cyber space.
“They’re already starting to tweet it on our Twitter,” adds Collins. “And they’re also starting to make noise about it on our website. So we think it’s going to be a good, fun thing for our customers and for us, and we’re hoping that we’re going to get some really good suggested names for our new electronic fare card.”
The winner of the contest will be awarded six months of free transit.
