Downtown high-rise evacuated after kitchen fire

An entire floor of a residential high rise downtown was evacuated and one suite destroyed after a kitchen fire Wednesday night.

Fire crews got to the building in the 700 block of 6th Ave. S.W. just after 11:00 p.m., and moved people out of the seventh floor.

They were able to quickly douse the blaze and only one person, a woman in the suite, required treatment by EMS. She was quickly released.

Everyone was allowed to return home after crews aired out the building, except for the suite where the fire broke out.
