Hawkwood poplars to get chopped

People living in the northwest community of Hawkwood are upset with plans to cut down more than two dozen mature poplar trees.
The city says the trees have a root fungal decay so they appear healthy but they’re not.
According to The Calgary Herald, some of the mature poplars also have roots lifting the sidewalk.
