Long weekend tips to stay safe

Calgary Fire and by-law officers will be out in full force this Canada Day long weekend to especially watch rafter’s on the Bow River.
By-law Boss Bill Bruce tells 660News they will be watching for common violations such as, not wearing a life-jacket, possession of alcohol and littering.
Bruce says they don’t want people to tie their rafts together because they can easily wrap around bridge abutments.
Fire crews are also asking Calgarians to be careful when having a open fire.
Spokesman Brian McAsey says “You want to make sure you have your water ready in hand and want to make sure you’re observing no embers are going flying. We live in a dry climate and when a fire does make itself present, it can move extremely fast.”
McAsey says people should check bylaws if unsure and to have an open fire in a pit.
